I gave this book 2 stars instead of one because I did check out the descriptions of the next two books to try to see what happens. I’ll skip 3 and wait till 4 comes out to read the VERY end then be done. The story in book one drew me in but I could tell it was going to be repetitive. It seems each book involves some mystery that needs to be solved. So the author drags out the annoying stuff endlessly. Here is the entire book: Eve and some member or members of her crew get captured. Ralph saves them by getting help. I’m the mean time, Eve throws various potion bombs at the bad guys. The good guys get away. Over and over again. I’m done. I literally want to read the very end of book 4 to see how she cures the curse but that’s it. That is only because the story brought me in enough to care about the characters. Other than that this book and series fall flat. First, this is the second book in the Wolf Queen story, which is part of the Shadow Guild series. You can pick up the first book, Darkest Moon and not feel like you are missing out on the bigger story. However, I suggest starting at the beginning simply because you shouldn't miss out on the entire series. If you choose to go back to the very beginning, start with Once Bitten (Shadow Guild: The Rebel).I had a feeling half way through Darkest Moon that Eve's story would be my favorite and book two has me convinced. The roller coaster continues, climbing higher and filled with more twists and turns. Eve's secret is out but there are more questions than answers and I need to know what happens next!This is a faced story with tons of action but it is all steady. There is no filler and the story never drags, which is one of the things I love so much about this author.This does end on a cliffy because duh, it is a series. That said, Linsey Hall doesn't make her readers wait long and the third book will be out in April.
